My Thoughts:
What a refreshing read of a beautiful love story between two men who are in different stages of their lives but somehow came together and made each other’s better.
I picked this book for an ARC review because I needed a different pace. Plus, it’s set in Maine and I love that state. Finn’s Fantasy is exactly what I needed.
It’s a well-written love story between Finn, who has the propensity to go “too fast too soon” with love and commitment, and Joel, who was recently divorced and is just starting to live his own truth out in the open.
I love the gradual process of Joel and Finn’s story. It wasn’t rushed. It may feel slow for some, but the pace is just right for me. Finn’s side of the story started with his attraction to Joel while he saw the man walking his dog, Bramble. Joel noticed Finn a little bit later, because he was still slowly building his life again but with his own truth this time.
There’s the complex family dynamics but made simple by no unnecessary family drama. Just real-life would-be reactions. It’s refreshing.
Once they got together thought, man, scorching!
I enjoyed meeting the rest of the “Men in Maine”. KC did a brilliant job of introducing them, it didn’t feel like an info dump and each characters are becoming distinct as they’re being introduced. I love that they’re each other’s chosen family.
I can’t wait to read Ben’s story next.
