my thoughts:

Imposing Saint is the third book from the All Saints Security Series. It holds up well as a standalone though. I haven't read the first two books and I don't think I needed to when I was reading this one.

I'm sucker for bodyguard trope. I don't like much the closeted partner though. But it happens so much in real life.

I really liked Isaac from the get go. He's very observant and cool as a cucumber. He's out and proud and has a crush on his client, Nashville's newest mayor whose fiancée just ditched him minutes before they're supposed to walk down the aisle.

There is so much drama in this book, most of the angst are emotional and are from Aaron's inner turmoil. Mayor Aaron has shoved a part of himself in the closet that he doesn't even know what to do with himself when his world started to unravel as soon as he crossed the line with Isaac.

I'd say there are two parts of this book, the first part is fast-paced, intense, a whole of sweetness and tenderness and I'll call that "while being in the mountain bubble".

The second part of the book is the "after the mountain bubble part" and man, the feels gets brutal. Isaac broke my heart. Aaron pissed me royally, I'm convinced he doesn't deserve Isaac but he makes Isaac happy, so I'm like Vaughn on this one.

While there's a lot of emotions and feelings and happily ever afters here, I feel like there are crucial parts that are missing for me, a voracious MM romance book reader. We were told that Aaron has topped Isaac, but that would have been such a great moment to read. A different level of intimacy and we wanted the glimpse of that happening the first time. Another part that was missing and have not been elaborated was Vaughn and the team's reaction when Isaac broke his professionalism and crossed the line with a client. It was implied that it was okay, but there was no "hey so here's what happened..". It was also never elaborated what was Isaac's function in Aaron's political master plan aside from just standing beside him like a hunky eye candy trophy husband. The epilogue was great, but how could we miss the major milestone in their relationship, THE WEDDING!

I still enjoyed reading Isaac and Aaron's story. It was an HEA that was right there on Aaron's fingertips if he was just brave enough to reach for it without causing Isaac pain. There were some things we wished we get to experience, but overall, the book was a good read.

my rating:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ four stars
