My Thoughts: This is a story about two flawed men who have not had a good shake in life. Red had five years of his life stolen away from him, over something that was already traumatic, add to the more traumatic experiences being in prison. He didn't deserve it but he dealt with it and is now trying to jump start his life free from being behind the bars. But he's still healing, still dealing and things aren't as easy. Then his path crossed with Silo. A guy who also went through hell, similar hell as Red. But Silo isn't walking around with a dark cloud as much as Red does.
These men really gave it their absolute go. They're both healing and dealing from what they've went through. They're stronger together. I love that about them. I also love that their relationship evolved at a pace where both of them are comfortable. There was a foundation of friendship that developed into something more. I love how patient Silo was with Red.
The plot twist nearing the end though, that was intense. It threw me for a loop.
This won't be an easy romantic read, but it emotional, it is a journey and if you want a touch of realness between two flawed individuals who are working their way towards living their best life despite of what happened to them, then give this book a chance. I enjoyed it and the happy ending was well deserved.
